In our business, we are always renovating something – a building, re-doing an office, updating an outside venue at one of our locations. About a year ago, we began to think about all of the items that were being thrown away or discarded. And it occurred to us that there might be other organizations (specifically, churches) that could possibly use furniture and other items, such as kitchen equipment, that we no longer needed. We sent out a letter to churches that we partner with and we received a very positive response. So, we moved forward with establishing the OPRS “Recycling……for Good” program. It is a creative solution that helps our organization, extends the life of the office furniture and is greatly appreciated by the recipient.

This week alone, we were able to recycle 2 desks, 4 lateral files, 2 bookshelves and a credenza to several churches in the Central Ohio area. The churches were contacted and the interest was overwhelming. All week they have arrived in their trucks and vans (pictured here), taking piece after piece back to their churches, delighted that they have additional furniture at no cost to them.

All of these items have stayed out of the landfill and there were many appreciative recipients!

OPRS’ “Recycle…..for Good” program is truly a “win win” for the churches that we partner with, the environment that we live and in and our organization! Thanks to all who have helped make the difference this week.
